When Local SEO Content Should Be Updated
Refresh pages when business facts change, customer questions evolve, or search data reveals a missing answer—not just to change a date.
Update facts when the business changes
Review public hours, services, service locations, phone details, and current policies whenever the business changes them. Update related profiles and directory listings so customers do not encounter conflicting information.
Content can also become incomplete when customers ask a new question or a process changes. Add the answer where it helps rather than appending a generic paragraph to every page.
- Update core facts promptly.
- Synchronize website and profile changes.
- Add new answers where they belong.
Use data and editorial judgment together
Search Console can reveal queries that bring visitors to a page and questions that the content does not answer well. Review the page and customer feedback before deciding whether to revise, expand, or consolidate it.
Do not change a publication date without a meaningful review. Keep an editorial note of what changed so later performance can be interpreted.
- Use query data to find content gaps.
- Make substantive changes before updating dates.
- Record the reason for each refresh.
